Which cars Motortune covers, and which adapter reaches which part of the car. Coverage is mapped from a diagnostic catalog of these models; this page grows from real‑world reports sent from Settings → Adapter → Send compatibility report. If your car and adapter aren't confirmed yet, run the in‑app compatibility check and send the report.
Looking for a specific model? The car lookup lists all 176 catalog models with their control units, what reaches each one, and whether the service reset, service functions and actuator tests are available.
The single biggest factor is your adapter. A modern car has several networks, and a plain ELM327 only reaches the fast CAN bus on the OBD socket's standard pins. On Jeep, RAM, Dodge and Chrysler that bus carries engine, gearbox, ABS, airbags, cluster and body computer; doors, climate, radio and seats sit on a slower MS‑CAN bus that needs an MS‑CAN transceiver. On Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Abarth the standard pins carry the engine and gearbox, and newer models keep ABS, airbags, cluster and body computer on a second CAN that only the vLinker MS switches to. If you want the whole car, buy from the every module list below.
These are the adapters we recommend — the same list the app shows under Recommended Adapters. Photos, prices and buy links below, with a side‑by‑side table to compare them.
MS-CAN-class adapters that also reach the interior bus — every Motortune feature, on every module the car exposes.

OBDLink · Bluetooth LE + Classic
Reaches every module, including the interior MS-CAN bus (doors, climate, radio) on Jeep, RAM, Dodge and Chrysler.

Vgate · Bluetooth (MFi)
MS-CAN plus Fiat's second CAN and 29-bit body bus, switched inside the adapter. The pick for Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Jeep.

Vgate · Bluetooth LE
STN-compatible with MS-CAN switching for the interior modules. The value pick for a full scan.
Plain ELM327-class adapters: engine, gearbox, ABS, airbag and cluster on the standard OBD pins — with their resets and routines.

OBDLink · Bluetooth LE
Fast and reliable on engine, gearbox, ABS, airbag and cluster. No MS-CAN, so no interior modules.

Veepeak · Bluetooth LE
The budget pick. Fault codes and live data on the powertrain and chassis modules.

Vgate · Bluetooth LE
An ELM327 clone. Fine for reading and clearing codes on the core modules.

Legend. Green reaches the interior MS‑CAN bus as well as the standard pins; amber is the standard OBD pins only; grey depends on the clone's firmware — send a report. An adapter that isn't ELM327‑compatible shows as Not supported when you pair it in the app.

Any car that speaks SAE J1979 works for engine fault codes, freeze frames and live data: pick Not listed when you add it. Everything model‑specific (the other modules, service reset, service functions, actuator tests) needs the car to be in the catalog.
Nothing here is confirmed until an owner runs it. If you've used Motortune on your car, please run Settings → Adapter → Run compatibility check and tap Send compatibility report. Two minutes of your time saves the next owner an hour of head‑scratching.
This page and the in‑app listings are provided for guidance only, on an as‑is basis and with no warranty of any kind. Diagnostics depend on your specific car, its model year and options, its control‑unit software versions, and your adapter, so some cars may not respond, some features may be unavailable on your car, and some adapters may be incompatible or behave unpredictably. Service functions, actuator tests and other write operations change data on your vehicle or move parts of it; you perform them at your own risk.
