Terms of Service
These terms ("Terms") govern your use of the Motortune iOS application ("the app"). The app is provided by Liquid ehf, a private limited company registered in Iceland (kt. 491026‑0730), Vættaborgum 46, 112 Reykjavík, Iceland ("Liquid", "we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
What the app does, and the risk you accept
You acknowledge that some operations are inherently risky and may be irreversible. A DPF regeneration runs the exhaust extremely hot; an actuator test can move a part while someone is near it; a brake‑bleeding procedure opens hydraulic valves. The app states each routine's conditions and sends the unit's stop sequence when a run is interrupted, but that is a safety aid, not a guarantee. You are solely responsible for deciding whether to run any operation.
Safety. The app is a diagnostic tool, not a safety device. Do not rely on it for any safety‑critical decision. Carry out tests and procedures only with the car parked securely, outdoors or with adequate ventilation when the engine runs, and the surroundings clear, and never while driving unless a procedure explicitly asks for a drive and it is safe and legal to do so. Have work on brakes, steering, airbags and other safety systems checked by a qualified technician.
Your responsibilities
You represent and agree that:
- you own the car you use the app on, or are authorised by its owner to perform diagnostic work on it;
- you understand what an operation does before you run it, and that some operations may void manufacturer warranty coverage or affect roadworthiness or insurance;
- you will comply with all laws and regulations applicable to servicing, modifying and operating your vehicle; and
- you are old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live.
No warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non‑infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error‑free, that diagnostic data or compatibility information is accurate or complete for your specific vehicle, or that any operation will succeed or be reversible.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Liquid ehf, its owners and staff will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary damages, nor for any loss of or damage to your vehicle or its components, loss of use, loss of data, repair or recovery costs, lost profits, or other economic loss, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the app, however caused and on any theory of liability.
To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with the app and these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the liability, or (b) EUR 50.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including, where applicable, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your mandatory rights as a consumer. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of the above may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Liquid ehf from any claims, losses, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the app, your breach of these Terms, your modification of a vehicle, or your use of the app on a vehicle you do not own or are not authorised to work on.
Compatibility
Diagnostic coverage depends on your vehicle, its control‑unit software and your adapter. The app identifies each control unit before offering a service function or actuator test for it, and operations that do not apply to your hardware are not offered.
In‑app purchases
The app is free to install and sells Pro as a non-consumable in-app purchase. Motortune Pro unlocks the features listed in the Pricing section for every make the app supports. It is a one‑time purchase processed by the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android. There is no subscription. Your purchase is bound to your Apple or Google account and may be restored at any time via Settings → Restore Purchases. Family Sharing is enabled, so members of your family share the entitlement.
Refunds are processed by the App Store or Google Play, not by us. See the Support page for the recommended refund flow; in short, please email us before requesting a refund so we have a chance to fix the underlying issue.
Trademarks
Motortune is an independent diagnostic tool. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any vehicle manufacturer or its brands. Make and model names, platform codes and part numbers appear in the app and on this site only to describe vehicle compatibility. All trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Changes
These terms may change as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here and in the in‑app About screen. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Iceland, without regard to its conflict‑of‑laws rules. The courts of Iceland, with venue at Héraðsdómur Reykjavíkur, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to the app or these Terms. If you use the app as a consumer resident in the EEA, nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
