Motortune ("the app") is an iOS application that turns an ELM327 / OBD‑II adapter into a car diagnostic scanner. This policy describes what data the app handles, where it is stored, and what it is (and isn't) used for.

What we collect

We do not transmit your VIN, your live data, your fault‑code reads, or your trip recordings to any server.

• Account (optional). If you choose to Sign in with Apple, the app receives the Apple‑issued user identifier and, if you grant it on first sign‑in, your email address and name. These are used to associate your iCloud‑synced data with your identity. On Android, Sign in with Google plays the same role. You may use the app without an account ("Continue without account").
• Vehicle and adapter data. Your car list, service log, fault‑code history, adapter pairings, diagnostic readouts and trip recordings are stored locally on your device. If you sign in with Apple and iCloud is available, your cars, service log and adapter pairings sync through your private iCloud key‑value store. On Android, the equivalent backup is a hidden, app‑only folder in your own Google Drive. Either way the sync uses Apple's or Google's infrastructure, not ours.
• Purchase history. Apple records that you bought Motortune Pro; we read it via StoreKit to unlock Pro features. Apple handles the transaction; we never see card numbers.
• Crash and diagnostic data (Sentry). When the app crashes or encounters an unhandled error, a stack trace plus device model, OS version, app version, and a short log of in‑app navigation events is uploaded to Sentry. If you are signed in, the report is keyed by your account's user identifier so we can correlate repeat reports from the same device. Session Replay (low‑resolution snapshots of the UI around an error) is captured for 10% of sessions and 100% of error sessions. None of this data is shared with advertisers or used for tracking across apps.
• Product analytics (Firebase / Google Analytics 4). We log a small set of coarse events (app opened, onboarding started, car model selected, adapter connection started / completed, scan started / completed with the number of fault codes found, purchase started / completed, which screens are opened, and whether you liked the app when it asks) so we can tell which features are used. We use the no‑IDFA build of Firebase Analytics: the AdSupport.framework is not linked into the app, IDFA is never read, and the App Tracking Transparency prompt is never shown. Names, email addresses, VINs, plates, GPS, fault‑code payloads and any other trip data are never sent to analytics.
• Apple Search Ads attribution. If you installed Motortune from an Apple Search Ads campaign, iOS exposes a coarse install‑attribution token via the AdServices framework. We exchange that token with Apple once to learn the campaign, org and keyword group that drove the install. It does not use IDFA, does not require ATT consent, and returns only campaign‑level metadata.
• Compatibility reports. When you tap Send compatibility report, the app builds a file with your car model, adapter details, which control units answered and a recent connection log, and hands it to the system share sheet. Nothing is sent unless you choose where to share it.
• Website. motortune.app sets no cookies and loads no analytics or third‑party scripts.

What we don't do

• We do not embed advertising SDKs, MMPs, or third‑party attribution networks beyond Apple's first‑party AdServices framework.
• We do not collect IDFA or trigger the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties beyond Apple (for purchases, iCloud and AdServices), Google (for Firebase Analytics, and sign‑in and Drive backup on Android) and Sentry (crash reporting), and only as described above.
• We do not transmit your VIN, your fault‑code reads, your live data, or your trip recordings.
• We do not link your activity in this app to third‑party data for advertising purposes.

Your rights

Settings → Account inside the app provides one‑tap data export (a copy of your cars and adapters, delivered via the system share sheet) and one‑tap account‑and‑data deletion. Deletion erases every car, service log entry, fault‑code record, saved adapter and trip on the device and removes your data from iCloud before signing you out.

Children

Motortune is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

If this policy materially changes, the in‑app About screen and this page will be updated. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
