Help & refund policy

Last updated: 24 September 2026

If something doesn't work, email me before requesting a refund. Most issues are adapter or car quirks I can fix in the next release, and the report your app sends me is how I find them. If I can't get it working for you within two weeks, I'll walk you through the Apple refund flow myself.

Getting help

The fastest path is the in‑app compatibility report:

That report bundles your car model, adapter chipset, which control units answered, the feature probe results, and the recent connection log. Nothing leaves your phone until you tap Send. With it I can usually pinpoint the issue without back‑and‑forth.

Or just email [email protected].

Common issues

The adapter pairs but nothing answers.

Nearly always the ignition. The adapter is powered by the OBD socket, but the control units only answer with the ignition on. Turn the key to MAR / ON (dash lit, engine off), or press the start button without the brake, before tapping Connect. Also check the right car is selected in the Garage: the model decides which control units Motortune talks to.

The engine answers, but ABS, airbags or the body computer don't.

Those units are probably on a bus your adapter can't reach. On Jeep, RAM, Dodge and Chrysler the doors, climate and radio sit on MS‑CAN; on newer Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Abarth models ABS, airbags, cluster and body computer sit on a second CAN. Your car's page in the car lookup shows which adapter reaches each unit, and the compatibility page lists adapters that do.

The adapter never pairs at all.

Open Settings → Adapter → Connection type and try BT1, BT2, BT3, then BT4 in turn instead of Automatic. Cheap clones sometimes don't respond to the auto‑probe. If the app says the adapter is locked to its own app, it won't work with Motortune: pair a different one.

A service function stopped part way.

Motortune sends the unit's stop sequence when a routine is interrupted, so pumps and valves go back to rest. Check the conditions the sheet asked for (engine off or idling, battery above the stated voltage, doors closed) and run it again. If it fails the same way, send the compatibility report.

Refund policy

Motortune Pro is a one‑time, non‑consumable in‑app purchase processed by Apple. Apple holds the funds and ultimately decides on refunds; the app cannot refund you by itself. Apple's standard refund window is 90 days from purchase via reportaproblem.apple.com.

That said: if Pro doesn't work on your car, please email [email protected] first. I'll either fix it in a release or help you file the refund. Apple typically approves first‑time refund requests routinely; I just don't want to leave a real bug unfixed because someone refunded silently.

What's covered by Pro

See the Pricing section on the home page for the full free‑vs‑Pro split. Short version: reading is free; clearing codes, the service reset, service functions and actuator tests are Pro.

Family Sharing

Pro is enabled for Apple Family Sharing. One purchase covers everyone in your family group; they don't need to buy it again. Restore Purchases on the second device picks up the entitlement automatically.
